NOAH’S ARK

Now good old Noah he built an ark, Hurrah ! hurrah!
And like a good old patriarch, Hurrah, hurrah !
He thatched it all over with stringy bark,
And pitched it all round to keep it dart,
And we’ll all feel gay
When Noah comes marching home,

Now Noah the ark began to cram, Hurrah! hurrah!
I assisted by Japhet, Shem and Ham, Hurrah ! hurrah !
They put in the animals two by two,
From the polar bear to the kangaroo,
And we’ll all feel gay
When Noah comes marching home.

There was the hippopotamus and the flea, Hurrah! hurrah!
The elephant and the bumble bee, Hurrah ! hurrah !
There was the cow with the crumpled horn,
And the cock that crowed them all up in the morn,
And we’ll all feel gay
When Noah comes marching home.

There were hares, and rabbits, and foxes, and pheasants,
Hurrah ! hurrah!
And tigers, and adders, to make things pleasant, Hurrah ! hurrah !
There was the glow-worm all serene,
And the lady’s chignon with the grigorine,
And we’ll all feel gay
When Noah comes marching home.

There were owls, and bats, and mice, and rats, Hurrah! hurrah!
Cockroaches, black beetles, dogs, and cats, Hurrah! hurrah !
There were fowls from above, and sharks from beneath,
With a couple of donkeys from Hampstead Heath,
And we’ll all feel gay
When Noah comes marching home,

One day two bullocks were having a lark, Hurrah ! hurrah!
When they butted a hole in the side of the ark, Hurrahl hurrah!
Noah took a dog’s nose to stop up the hole,
Which from that very night has been wet and cold,
And we’ll all feel gay
When Noah comes marching home.
