Caulfield Cup Smash

Go tell my dear old mother
Who resides now in Geelong
That I’ve been badly injured
By those jockeys who rode wrong
My head does ache, my side does pain
I feel myself insane
God spare me just a little
Till I see her once again.
Kind friends come gather round me
And a song I’ll sing to you
About poor Alec Nicholson
A sportsman brave and true
Some say it was Young Doolin’s fault
But now it is too late
For on the Caulfield Day
Poor Alec met his fate

Go tell my dear old mother
Who resides now in Geelong
That I’ve been badly injured
By those jockeys who rode wrong
My head does ache, my side does pain
I feel myself insane
God spare me just a little
Till I see her once again.
